{Book Haul} June 2017

So if you saw my {Planned Reads} post for June, you’ve already seen a few of the books I hauled in this month. This post is for all the other stuff I collected over the month. I had an unusually large haul this month – but I also had a lot of wonderful family and friends who gifted me with bookstore gift cards as graduation gifts. So this haul is pretty large, and might be my last substantial one for awhile until I start reading all of these books down!

All of the photos below come straight from my instagram: @bookbastion. Make sure to follow me over there to see all of my photos first!

The City of Mirrors by Justin Cronin
Book #3 in the ‘Passages’ series

I read and reviewed The Passage on my Goodreads account just before I started this blog, and I absolutely adored it. I really do need to transfer that review over here at some point, which I will probably do when I continue on with this series. This is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller series, and the first book was so memorable it still pops into my mind from time to time. I’m very happy that I finally have all three books in this series on my shelf!

Exquisite by Sarah Stovell

This is an ARC that I was blessed enough to receive from the incomparable Chelsea over at The Suspense Is Thrilling Me. It’s a psychological thriller that is currently getting rave reviews in the blogging circuit. I can’t wait to give it a go!

Dark Tide by Jennifer Donnelly
Book #3 in the ‘Deep Blue’ series

I am obsessed with these covers. I love the whole underwater theme, and I love how each cover has really focused on highlighting the diversity of the cast of characters and the world. It’s pretty clear comparing the outfits and tail fins of the mermaids on each of the covers that there’s a lot of differences between the types of mermaids in the series. They put me in a summer mood, for sure!

Block 46 by Johana Gustawsson

This cover is so striking! That knife ripping through the cover totally looks real! It’s one of my favorite covers of the year, and this is one of my favorite instagram photos just because of it! This is another book that has been receiving rave reviews from a lot of my friends in the blogging community, so I’m excited to check it out!

The Hatching by Ezekiel Boone

I have been searching my local bookstore for this book for awhile now! This last month when I visited them, I must have caught them just after they restocked or something because they finally had this in! I snatched it right up. It’s a real morbid curiosity that’s drawing me to this one – a book about killer spider invasions.

Welcome to Night Vale by Joseph Fink & Jeffrey Cranor

I am inexplicably drawn to this book. I love the cover, and the whole vibe of a town with all sorts of supernatural creatures in it reminds me in a way of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which I was obsessed with as a teen. I see it’s gotten some mixed reviews among my friends on Goodreads, but I’m still excited to see what’s up!

Book V in the ‘Heroes of Olympus’ series

I’ve completed another Rick Riordan series. Now I just need to carve out some time to read them. Anyone want to pay me to stay home and read and write reviews all day? 😉

So that’s it! Those are all the books I’ve bought so far this month! Have you read any of these? What did you think of them? Follow me on instagram @bookbastion for future snaps of my books!

  1. Have you listened to the Welcome to Night Vale Podcasts? They are amazing. They actually made two other books which are direct transcripts of the podcasts. It’s a great series, I haven’t read this book but I’ve listened to the podcast and adore all the characters. It’s got a pretty big fan base as well.

  2. Really great book haul! I adore the pictures you have taken of all these books. They are quite beautiful. I need to read Dark Tide sometime soon as well. It’s been on my shelf for a while now and I really loved deep blue and Rouge Wave! I’d love to see what the rest of the series has to offer.

  3. I love your photos! And I just found you on Instagram! I love following people who post book photos! Great reading list. The one with the knife is a really cool cover – it has a kind of 3D effect to it.

  4. I have been considering if I should read the Percy Jackson series. The box set is not that much money and I like Greek Mythology, and I find interesting these books for this.

I started reading The Thunder Thief a while back (like 5 years ago) but I found it really hard to read. Would suggest to give it a try? 🙂

I hope you could take a look at my blog and commend around!
    Thank you for posting!

      1. Amazon has it on Global Shipping… seems to be my… hmmmm Halloween present (?) haha

Those are totally the books that one read for entertainment only so no much attention is needed… I think. I mean if you read a historical novel I think that will be different haha
