It has been absolutely ages since I’ve done a good bookhaul post, but I’ve been bit by the blogging bug as of late so I figured I would catch everyone up on the books I’ve bought recently! This will be a bit of a longer post, mostly because I’ve got a lot of new books to show off.
All of the photos below come from my instagram: @bookbastion, which just hit 1000 followers this week! It’s been really fun sort of applying myself to my instagram lately. I’ve gotten sort of into photo composition and trying to improve my photos. I’m still learning, and toying with the idea of changing things up a bit too, but for now things have been working out well. If we’re not following each other on instagram yet, shoot me a message over there so we can connect!
Anyway, without further ado:
Don’t You Cry by Mary Kubica
Suspense / Thriller. Mary Kubica is one of those authors that so many of the friends I’ve made in the blogging community seem to really enjoy. I had to pick up one of her books. I’m planning on giving this a read later this month once I knock a couple of ARCs off my roster. I’ve been craving a good suspenseful read lately!
Pitch Dark by Courtney Alameda
YA / Horror / SciFi. I read and reviewed this book last month on my blog. It was a fun and really fast-paced sci-fi horror romp. Perfect for fans of video games like Dead Space and Left for Dead if you like good zombie/alien horror.
Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco
YA / Historical Fiction / Horror. I’m a series completionist. Once I buy the first book, I’m out there like Ash Ketchum, trying to catch em all. Plus, the cover for book 3 looks so gorgeous that I really felt I need all of them on my shelf. My sister guest-reviewed on my blog last year when she read Stalking Jack the Ripper. I’ve sort of felt called to this series lately, so I might be reading the first book pretty soon.
The Three-Body Problem
The Dark Forest
Death’s End
by Cixin Liu
Science Fiction. Okay, this series was a total impulse haul. The covers of these books are so beautiful I just had to have them. Science Fiction isn’t always my favorite genre, but this series is critically acclaimed, so I’ve got high hopes for it. Have you read any of these?
The Terror by Dan Simmons
Horror / Historical Fiction. I read and reviewed this earlier this month when I saw a trailer for the television show. I’m a huge horror fan, so I really wanted to read the book before I gave the show a try. This was a really heavy read – both literally and figuratively. It clocks in at over 700 pages long, and has a LOT of research in it that sort of slowed my progress down a bit. Still, a really great read.
Unearthed by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
YA / Science fiction. You literally cannot go wrong with either Amie Kaufman, or Meagan Spooner. I’ve loved everything I’ve read from either of them, so I’m quite looking forward to this as well.
The Cruel Prince
Young Adult / Fantasy. I haven’t read a Holly Black book since I was a teenager (it was Tithe and I wish I remembered more of it than I do.) I’ve heard so many great things about this book, and the covers for this series are awesome. I’m planning on reading this over the summer.
And I Darken by Kiersten White
Young Adult Fantasy. Another series that I’ve decided I can’t keep myself from any longer. I managed to find this book for like $2 at my local bookstore, so it seemed like high time to pick myself up a copy.
To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo
Young Adult / Fantasy. I cannot keep myself away from mermaid related anything. They’re basically my favorite fantasy creatures. I’m reading this later this month too.
Keeper of the Lost Cities
Exile
Everblaze by Shannon Messenger
Middle Grade / Fantasy. This was another impulse by for me. I’ve never heard anything about this series, but the covers caught my eye so I picked them up on a whim. Have you read any of this series? What did you think?
The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli
Young Adult / Fantasy. I definitely was on a YA Fantasy buying binge when I hauled most of these books. I’ve heard such wonderful things about this book from friends in the blogging community. I have to check it out myself. I’m planning on trying this one out this summer.
Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard by Rick Riordan
Young Adult / Fantasy. I’m slowly collecting Rick Riordan’s books and even more slowly reading them. I’m most anticipating this series out of all of them though, so I hope I can make my way to them soon.
Circe by Madeline Miller
Fantasy / Mythology Retelling. This book was perfection. My favorite read of the year so far! Thank you to Little, Brown and Company for my advanced review copy!
Here’s all my precious babies lined up for a collective photo! They grow so fast! 😛 ❤
So that’s it! Those are all the books I’ve bought or acquired so far this month! Have you read any of these? What did you think of them?
xoxo
Whoa I just kept on scrolling, nice haul! I only read one of Mary Kubica’s books but I liked it! Happy reading!

Thanks Inge! I really should have done smaller book haul posts over the course of quarter 1. I didn’t even realize how much I had hauled over the course of 3 months!

Such a good bunch of great sounding books. And I Darken is the only book from this haul that I’ve read and it was such a surprising read. Considering it is very dense and political, I really liked it and I can’t wait until I’m in the mood to pick up the second book Now I Rise.

Such a great variety of reads. Since doing my blog, I’ve found that variety is the only way I can maintain such a quick reading schedule. I’ve also followed your instagram. Mine is mostly photos of my dog and food, but there are occasional books thrown in!
