In an effort to produce more regular content on my blog between reviews, I’ve decided to regularly participate in WWW Wednesday! For those of you who might not be aware, this is a weekly book blogging meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words.
The purpose of this post is just to update those who follow the blog as to what I’m currently in the midst of reading, and have also just finished. I’m also hoping that it helps provide me a necessary boost of motivation in the middle of the week to power on through to the weekend!
Without further ado, lets dive in!
What are you currently reading?
I’m in the final quarter of this novel and really enjoying it. It’s definitely a slow burn, but the mystery between Quinn and Esther is fascinating. Alex is also a really well drawn character and I’m enjoying spending time with him. Excited to see how this one wraps up!
Synopsis:
In downtown Chicago, Esther Vaughan disappears from her apartment without a trace. A haunting letter addressed to My Dearest is found among her possessions, leaving her roommate Quinn Collins to question how well she really knew her friend. Meanwhile, in a small town an hour outside Chicago, a mysterious woman appears in the quiet coffee shop where eighteen-year-old Alex Gallo works as a dishwasher. He is immediately drawn to her, but what starts as an innocent crush quickly spirals into something far more sinister.
As Quinn searches for answers about Esther, and Alex is drawn further under the stranger’s spell, master of suspense Mary Kubica takes readers on a taut and twisted thrill ride that builds to a stunning conclusion and shows that no matter how fast and far we run, the past always catches up with us.
What did you recently finish reading?
Last week I finished Beyond Redemption by Michael R Fletcher. You can navigate to my review by clicking on the picture or title above. Vividly drawn grimdark fantasy, this novel is dark and atmospheric and wildly creative in its scope. A great start to a new fantasy series!
Synopsis:
Faith shapes the landscape, defines the laws of physics, and makes a mockery of truth. Common knowledge isn’t an axiom, it’s a force of nature. What the masses believe is. But insanity is a weapon, conviction a shield. Delusions give birth to foul new gods.
Violent and dark, the world is filled with the Geisteskranken—men and women whose delusions manifest, twisting reality. High Priest Konig seeks to create order from chaos. He defines the beliefs of his followers, leading their faith to one end: a young boy, Morgen, must Ascend to become a god. A god they can control.
But there are many who would see this would-be-god in their thrall, including the High Priest’s own Doppels, and a Slaver no one can resist. Three reprobates—The Greatest Swordsman in the World, a murderous Kleptic, and possibly the only sane man left—have their own nefarious plans for the young god.
As these forces converge on the boy, there’s one more obstacle: time is running out. When one’s delusions become more powerful, they become harder to control. The fate of the Geisteskranken is to inevitably find oneself in the Afterdeath.
The question, then, is: Who will rule there?
What do you think you’ll read next?
I’ve owned this book for a couple of years and I’m finally prioritizing it. This is the year of reading for me and this book has always been near the top of the list of books I wanted to check out but somehow never had the time. I’ve heard great things and am stoked to start it!
Synopsis:
Clay Cooper and his band were once the best of the best — the meanest, dirtiest, most feared crew of mercenaries this side of the Heartwyld.
Their glory days long past, the mercs have grown apart and grown old, fat, drunk – or a combination of the three. Then an ex-bandmate turns up at Clay’s door with a plea for help. His daughter Rose is trapped in a city besieged by an enemy one hundred thousand strong and hungry for blood. Rescuing Rose is the kind of mission that only the very brave or the very stupid would sign up for.
It’s time to get the band back together for one last tour across the Wyld.

I just decided to participate in this meme as well (my post will be up later)!! The Top 5 Wednesdays are stopping for the summer, so I thought I would give this and “Down the TBR Hole” a shot. I really want to read “Kings of the Wyld”, so I’m excited to eventually read your review.
P.S. Is that a new signature I see??????????

I’ll have to check out the TBR Hole meme too!
And yes, new signature abound! I was messing about making a new logo for my blog’s facebook page (similar in style to my signature) and decided to redo the signature as well.

One of my bestie bloggers, Sofii, has been doing them for some time and she lays hers out really well. If you want to check it out, I’ll leave a link at the bottom of the comment!
I really love it! It’s very minimalist yet has some “zazz” to it (am I using the right word???)!
