QOTD | what is your preferred genre to read in?
Mine has got to be fantasy. Young Adult, New Adult, or regular old Adult fantasy I can't get enough of the escapism of the genre. I can read happy and uplifting fantasy, or the dark and grim stuff and being entertained.
Michael R Fletcher's stories are definitely grim dark fantasy but I've been so entertained by his writing style and world building capabilities. I can't wait to read Swarm and Steel next month!

Hopefully I'll be able to sneak in some time with The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman so that I can move on to The Amber Spyglass by August. I read The Golden Compass last month and loved it! The story definitely went darker than I expected and to places that were unexpected. I'm excited to see where Lyra is headed in book 2.

I don't have an inner cover page to share with you all today, as this book is self published and at least my copy doesn't have one, so I'm sharing page one instead!
I'm so excited to finally be cracking into The Mirror's Truth by Michael R. Fletcher. I read Beyond Redemption last month and loved it so I pinched my pennies and bought myself a copy of this book to support the authors endeavors in self publishing!
My favorite subgenre of fantasy is grimdark, which Fletcher does soooooo well! Can't wait to see where this book goes!

This weekend I'm hunkering down with Bloody Rose by Nicholas Eames and hopefully a bit of sunshine.
Meanwhile, I've told my copy of Godsgrave to sit tight because I am coming for this book sometime in the next couple of weeks! I adored Nevernight when I read it, and knowing that Darkdawn is on the horizon has got me geared up to revisit this world in a big way.
Jay Kristoff is a can't miss author for me at this point. I love his worlds and his chacraters so much!

For me it's the His Dark Materials series by @philippullmanofficial. I somehow missed out on them when I was a kid, but I'm roaring right through them as an adult. Just finishing up The Golden Compass today and then I'll be onto The Subtle Knife!

Mine is Jennifer Donnelly's epic mermaid series that starts with Deep Blue. I've had this entire series for ages and still haven't started it! The covers are so gorgeous and I love stories about mermaids. Really must make time for it at some point soon.
